Scripture Prayers

Prayers from God’s Word for everyday needs

A Scripture prayer is a prayer built from God’s own promises, so you can pray with confidence that you are asking according to His will.

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.”

1 John 5:14

Pray these out loud. Put your own name in them. A new prayer is added often. If you need prayer for something not listed here, send a prayer request and Yv'e will pray for you personally.

Prayer 1

A prayer before a test

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

James 1:5

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

2 Timothy 1:7

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6–7

Pray

Father God, thank You that You give wisdom freely to everyone who asks, so I ask You for wisdom today. You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind. I receive Your peace over my heart and my mind. Help me remember what I have studied, think clearly, and do my very best for Your glory. Whatever the result, I trust You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer 2

When I am tested or tempted

In the Bible, one Greek word covers both being tested and being tempted. Jesus faced it too, so He understands exactly what you are going through.

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Hebrews 4:15–16

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

1 Corinthians 10:13

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”

James 1:12

Pray

Lord Jesus, thank You that You were tested in every way I am, yet without sin, so You understand what I am facing right now. I come boldly to Your throne of grace for mercy and for help. Father, You are faithful. You will not let me be tested beyond what I can bear, and You have already made a way of escape. Show me that way, and give me the strength to take it. Help me endure and come through this stronger in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
